Dades Valley

16.9.2017 (Saturday)

Upon checking out our residence in Marrakech, Mohamad picked us up for a trip to Dades Valley. First from Amina Residence then from Riad Hotel Essaouira.

We then started crossing the High Atlas Mountain via the TIZI and Tichka Pass, which reaches an altitude of 2,260 m (7,415 ft) and is the highest mountain Pass in North Africa.

The road passes through valleys of villages typical of the northern slopes of the Atlas, where corn can be seen ripening in the sun on the packed-earth roofs of the stone houses.

We then continue across the territory of the powerful Glaoua tribe where a number of ancient kasbahs and fortified granaries can be seen dotting the countryside before we reached Ait BenHaddou.

Ait Benhaddou - a fortified village classified by UNESCO as one of the world's cultural treasures.
We then continue the journey towards Skoura Oasis and stopped for lunch. Since we have not enough energy to explore kasbah and villages in Ait BenHaddou, we settled with visiting Kasbah Amridil.

Kasbah Amridil - an excellent tour guide took this photo.

Morocco is home to giant movie studios where they require desert scene and the likes.

The road filled with dense palm groves crossed by a network of tracks running between kasbahs, ksours and farms.  We then head towards the Roses Valley and into the Dades Valley on the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing the fortresses of M'Goun and the countless traditional Berber abode houses that perch along the riversides, sometimes barely distinguishable from the rock themselves.

Mohamad sent us to Chez Pierre Auberge, Gorges du Dades. Owned by Ismail and his 2 brothers.
The hotel is really gojes. It comes with dinner and breakfast.
