Gemuend Germany

Day 1 Gemund (22.4.17)

Departing Malaga Airport by RyanAir we arrived Cologne Bonn Airport around 1.20 pm. A 3 hour across Western Europe. From the airport we took RE 10607 Minden (Westf) at platform 1 D-F for Cologne Central Station at EU2.80 per person (2 stops / 13minutes) . At Cologne Central Station we got on RB11403 Trier Hbf at platform 6 D-G for Kall at EU11.40 per person (13 stops / 1 hour 5 minutes).

Since it was lunch time we had turkish lunch at Cologne Central Station. I was here about 11 years ago in 2006.

For our initial ration we bought some groceries  (EU28) at Kall Railway Station before taking a taxi to the resort.

Salzberg means Hill... yes its on top of a hill... menapak la turun naik for a week
We then checked in into our one bedroom apartment Time Share Unit using our 2015 allocation with an exchange fee of USD199 per year. Saturday to Saturday. Waduh... this is the best apartment ever since, very modern and spotless... rasa nak duduk lama jer.

On certain days ada fresh delivery of bakeries. We ate in most days.. the kitchen is complete.

Day 2 : We just lounging around, macam biasa la.. En Md Zahar kita dah kleuarkan laptop nya. We also went down the hill and strolling around Gemund.

Day 3 Eifel National Park and Voselgang (24.4.2017)

One of the reason I picked this resort and surrounding area is because we like the forest and National Park. Gemuender Ferienpark Salzberg is located in the Eifel region which is well known for its extensive forests, rivers and lakes. Today we are going for a hike. After an enquiry at the information centre we were shown a route to Vogelsang. Go on foot and came back by bus. I think the person at the reception had never done the trail herself.. we proved it wrong. The best way is to go by bus to Vogelsang and hike through the forest back to Gemund, then we dont have to go uphill for 3 km.

Nonetheless, despite the uphill battle.. we MADE IT !

We passed through beautiful houses while looking for the trail, until a lady residence showed us the right path
starting with flat trail... the air that we breath were so fresh.. tak terasa dah berjalan ber km.

Wood, water and wilderness ! love it !

A beautiful strong suspension bridge in the forest

just beautiful
The hiking routes in the Eifel have been created with enjoyment factors in particular in mind, such as fabulous views, seamless signposting, different landscape forms, hiker-friendly accommodation, romantic, winding paths, and much more. Very well plan with Wood, Water nad Wilderness in mind.

We really enjoyed the magnificent scenery and its unique natural environment.  We did lots of walks and a few stop overs.  Finally we reached Vogelsang which is interesting, but the attraction for us is the walking and views of countryside, lakes and rivers.

Vogelsang is a forgotten monument to Hitler's idealogy which has emerged from a 70 year time warp. It is a castle built in the 1930's to train a new Nazi elite. Vacated by th Belgian Army in 2016, it sheds some light on the systematic brainwashing that churned out a generation of fanatics.

Nonetheless Vogelsang means bird song, its a stone clad reminder of Hitlers' racists idealogy towers around the surrounding wooded hills.

Today I've walked more than 13 km.... wow... pasni boleh do another hiking.la...

After exploring the Vogelsang we went back to Gemund by bus at EU2.40 per person. While strolling in Gemund we met muslim who happened to be from Indonesia and Montenegro. In this part of Germany the sights of muslims are rare, especially amongst the tourist.

On the way back to the resort we were stopped by a Sri Lancan local who wanted to give us a ride uphill instead of walking (which we dont really mind), he also took us to his house in Salzberg. He said its a rare opportunity to see tourist from Asia and felt so happy to meet us.

Day 4 Salzberg (25.4.2017)

Yesterday we had a long day and today we are just resting at the resort. Woke up early to wait for the bakery van. Jalan jalan tengok rumah orang... cantik2 landscape nya.

Day 5 Kall (26.4.2017)

Kall is a small railway station town. Kampung betul.. kami cuba naik bus with the local, it costs us EU1.90 per person from Gemund to Kall. Kalau tukar RM.. mahal sungguh..

The rest of the day we just spend time at the riverside and forest in Gemund.

Day 6 Monschau & Bad Munstereifel (27.4.2017)

Andrey invited to take us to Monschau (because we want to go there) and she took us to another medieval village Bad Munstereifel with Harry on the wheels. Thank you so much to both of you. Hope our friendship remains forever. A really nice couple.

Beli bag at EU15 each

Half timbered traditional house

Pintens a traditional cookies of Eifel Region

Thank you so much Andrey and Harry Puertz.

Day 7 Gemund (28.4.2017)

Today kami jalan jalan sekitar Gemund dan Salzberg sahaja.

Seronok pulak walking and strolling along the river and the hill.. bila penat rehat sat pastu jalan lagi. mungkin cuaca sejuk buat rasa fresh aje.

Day 8 Cross border Germany to Netherlands (29.4.2017)

After checking out we hired a taxi to Kall Railway Station.  At Kall we got on RE11346 to Koln Messe (Cologne Central Station). At 12.40 we board ICE International 126 to Amsterdam Central. The ticket from Kall to Amsterdam Central was EU119.80 for 2 persons which we booked earlier.
